MAYBE - if you charge people to post items - they would take "some pride of ownership" and not post listings with crappy pictures, shoddy descriptions, put s description in there to begin with and not dump csv files of useless garbage on site. but really - its a fake, a lie and a sham - not to mention it doesnt really mean anything. Go watch eBays new favorite sellers - the armada of "pickers" (everyone on Youtube is a "picker" (they probably just pick their noses) who spend their days buying used items for $1-5 and then selling them for $15-20. Of course all this could be solved if it vetted sellers and then treated those that pass with dignity and respect. The article IS correct that having too many sellers and not enough buyers causes problems - its one eBay (at least in the US) is facing right now. It just changes the terms from front loading costs to back loading them. Large brands get better treatment, are allowed to abuse sellers, large sellers have negatives removed and can have contact info in places regular sellers cant, and can have their own returns terms.ĮBay has always been "pay for play", and although its rather obvious - not charging for listings isnt new OR revolutionary. although truth be told - the payment has probably started ages ago. Somebody somewhere is paying for that "FREE", and when they ask what it gets THEM - thats when eBay will have to pay the piper. NOTHING in life is free - especially on eBay.
